Bonnie Magee is a textile artisan specialising in hand-embroidery. A first-class graduate with a BA (Hons) in Textile Design from the Glasgow School of Art, where she produced an award-winning collection titled The Feminine Grotesque.

Through her exploration of materiality, process, and stitch, Bonnie uses needlework as a means of communication. Her work highlights the beauty that emerges from discomfort, intertwining themes of the body and the natural world. She celebrates femininity through her connection to nature, beauty, and emotion. Bonnie carefully curates an archive of ribbon, lace, lightweight, and translucent fabrics that enhance the concept of empowering femininity. She is also drawn to emotive art, storytelling, and the symbolism of animals—particularly birds and their fluid movement. Utilising mixed embroidery techniques, she translates her research and expressive drawings into textured, narrative-rich samples, drawing inspiration from historical silhouettes and positioning her embroidery as wearable art.

Bonnie’s multi-award-winning collection has been featured in several publications, including the BBC, Dezeen, and The Skinny. Her work has also been exhibited across the UK, including at The Knitting and Stitching Show. Recognized for her inspirational creativity and innovation, she has received The Contemporary Needlework Prize 2024, the Sanderson Industry Prize 2024, and the TEX+ Arts Award 2024. She was also shortlisted for the Global Creative Showcase 2024.

Currently, Bonnie is further developing her mixed-media design skills as part of the CHANEL and King’s Foundation Métiers d’Art Fellowship, refining her work for Haute Couture. As she evolves her personal style to meet high-fashion standards, she aims to continue developing her own brand while entering the fashion industry with a deeper understanding and enhanced expertise in the craft of embroidery.
